Tasers are "much more complexly dangerous weapons than people understand," said Catherine Parke, a Moberly professor and member of the Coalition to Control Tasers.

The group, which wants to take the Taser issue to the voters, says 500 people across the U.S. have been killed by Tasers.

I tend to agree that there needs to be more oversight of taser use, however,if we take tasers completely out of the hands of police they may well be forced to use harsher means of subdueing a suspect such as using a nightstick or firearm.

This subject will require a lot of thought. I still think being tased would be preferable to being shot.
